How to create a stained effect on your wooden fence

Step 1

Before painting, carefully prepare the surface by sanding it with 150-180 grit sandpaper. Be sure to remove any impurities with a dusting brush.

Step 2

Now that your surface is ready, open your can of IMR wax-like water-based impregnating agent/topcoat for wood (for this tutorial we used IMR083 - TEAK), stirring it very well before use. Apply the product on the surface with a synthetic bristle brush, working in long and linear movements.

Step 3

Wait 1 to 2 hours before applying the second coat of product.
